2nd Nordisk Short Film Circle
NUKU Big Hall, Hallituskatu 7, Oulu, Finland
Sunday 23 September 10:00-14:00
For the second time, Filmkontakt Nord is proud to present the Nordisk Short Film as part of this year’s Nordisk Panorama – 5 Cities Film Festival in Oulu, Finland.
Engaging the Nordic short film community in discussions about the past, present and future of the Nordic short film in a global context, the aim of Nordisk Short Film Circle is to create a platform for creative exchange where we watch films, discuss relevant issues, learn, and draw inspiration from one another and invited guests: in short, intensify the dialogue on Nordic short films.
Nordisk Short Film Circle immediately hit a nerve when it was held for the first time in 2006. The first edition was dedicated to taking the pulse on the Nordic short film scene with input from each of the Nordic countries as well as international guests to illustrate important trends, issues and successes. The waves of discussions continued afterwards in the individual countries and even resulted in new initiatives inspired by colleagues in the Nordic countries and North America.
This time we will take a closer look at various distribution channels for short films with regard to both traditional and new media. Where do all the short films go once they are made? What are the possibilities abroad and "at home"? What do filmmakers get in return for their effort? Where is the audience and how important is it? These are a few of the questions which will be taken up for debate. Join the Nordisk Short Film Circle, take part in the discussions and contribute to the development of the Nordic short film scene!
